Assessment Reports: reviewing all curriculum assessments in one place

What Assessment Reports shows

Assessment Reports is a centralised view of all curriculum assessment records across the school. Rather than going into each student's profile individually, this module lets you see assessment activity at a glance — which students have been assessed, under which model, and when.

Opening Assessment Reports

1. Go to Assessment Reports from the main sidebar.
2. The screen loads showing assessment records across the school.
3. Use the filter controls to narrow by class, term, or assessment model.

Assessment models

School Vault supports two assessment models in this module, reflecting the different curriculum frameworks installed in your school:

• Numeric Marks (CA + Exam) — used for primary and formal curricula (e.g. NERDC). Records CA1, CA2, and Exam scores for each subject, resulting in a numeric total and a grade letter. These assessments feed into report cards.
• Judgement Scale — used for early years and qualitative curricula (e.g. EYFS, IEYC, Montessori). Records a judgement level (such as Emerging, Developing, Secure, or a curriculum-specific scale) against each learning indicator or strand. These assessments appear in Learning Journals and developmental progress reports.

Starting a new assessment entry

1. In the Assessments screen, click New Assessment.
2. A student picker appears. Search for the student by name or admission number.
3. Select the student. The system navigates to that student's profile, with the Assessment tab active.
4. On the Assessment tab, enter or update the assessment records according to the curriculum model assigned to the student's class.

Reading the assessment record list

Each row in the assessment list shows:

• Student name and class section
• Curriculum assigned to the class
• Assessment model (Numeric Marks or Judgement Scale)
• Last updated — when the most recent assessment entry was saved

Click any row to open that student's profile directly at the Assessment tab.

Common mistakes

• Clicking New Assessment when you want to update an existing record — New Assessment is for creating a first entry for a student who has no assessment record yet. If the student already has records, click their name in the list instead to open and update the existing entry.
• Expecting to see numeric marks for an early years class or judgement entries for a primary class — the model is determined by the class curriculum, not by user choice. If the model looks wrong, check which curriculum is assigned to that class in Settings.
• Using Assessment Reports to enter mark entry scores for primary subjects — mark entry (CA1/CA2/Exam scores) is handled via the Mark Entry module, not Assessment Reports. Assessment Reports shows a summary and gives access to the student's Assessment tab, but the subject-by-subject score grid lives in Mark Entry.
